Ben Bolger, on a mission to empower K-12 students with gamified financial literacy, transforming futures.
It’s one of the leading causes of stress, a silent killer of relationships, and the reason so many people live paycheck to paycheck. Poor financial decision-making has devastating effects, yet too little is done to address it.
I’m Ben Bolger, co-founder of Squirrel Education, and our mission is clear: revolutionise financial education so every child leaves school ready to live a fulfilled, independent life—because money makes sense to them.
By the age of seven, children begin forming their relationship with money, shaped by what they see and hear. The problem? Financial literacy isn’t properly taught in schools, leaving young people unprepared for real-world financial challenges.
That’s where we come in. At Squirrel Education, we’ve created a virtual economy for schools—an engaging environment where kids not only gain essential knowledge but, more importantly, practise developing the habits they need to be financially successful. And since our platform requires no additional curriculum time or specialist teachers, it’s easy for schools to adopt.
One of the biggest challenges we’re tackling is the toxic cycle of financial illiteracy passed down from generation to generation. It’s an issue that impacts millions, but we’re committed to ending it.
For anyone passionate about solving big societal problems, my advice is simple: find a way to act now. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but with perseverance and a clear mission, you can make a lasting impact.
At Squirrel Education, we believe the time for change is now. Financial education should be a right, not a privilege—and we’re here to make that a reality.
